Good question. My guess is... so Chevy can watch how the style trend of car buyers’ change as they develop their next F-body based masterpiece. Stopping production now saves money as well as creates a complete absence of new F-bodies on dealers’ lots. Through internet marketing (like this and many other sites) and eventually the large hype on television just before its introduction, they can take orders and sell out very fast. They can build a larger market of enthusiasts of every age. They will sale fast and pricey and be only available in limited numbers at first. They will regain full popularity and become more affordable after a year or two passes. Once again, just my guess |

Bottom line was that they were not selling. Business wise, GM couldn't continue to support a car line that wasn't profitable, when their other lines were in need of support as well. The problem is that now in addition of not having an awesome and affordable sport car, GM doesn't have much to offer in the passenger car segments as of late. The foreign makes have almost all of the car lines in control, and are gaining in the SUV market. Daimler Chrysler is on a roll with their brainchild 300C, and will soon pump out over 400 hp, and the only thing GM (all of GM) has to answer with is an overpriced caddy with a vette motor and a holden with the ls1. Chevy spoke of a "Revolution" of some sort, but all I still see are broken promises and confusion in the design studios. I am not pleased at all, even with the c6.

Besides sales that were slipping away, the 2002 Camaro did not meet 2003 crash standards. Something about the side impact standards with the windshield pillar on the steep angle.Scott Settlemire says to "keep the faith". Remember that the Camaro nameplate has been a very inportant one for Chevrolet for 36 years.
